Ruben Bravo is special....

Ruben is a student in my class... He is a brilliant student but is being raised from what I heard by some gang bangers type of people... I do not know them but I know that Ruben acts like a gang banger until he comes into the class and then he shines like a diamond... Today we were going over some of the propositions that are on our ballot and we were talking about legalizing marijuana and Ruben gave an intellectual argument why we should legalize it and then I had the students write their opinion and also tell me which way they would vote... Well the class came up even at 14-14 and the last paper I had to read was Ruben's... I knew which way he was going but I wanted to see how he would craft his argument on paper and then he stunned me... He argued that marijuana should never be legalized... I broke up into a belly laugh and told Ruben to come back to my desk and with a grin he told me he just wanted to shake up the class and that is why he argued for legalization... What a great young man and I am honored to put him into my blog.... Night.... 39

No Bishop yet....

We had interviews last January and I mean about 7 brethern was interviewed and the feeling is that a change was coming soon... We then heard that the change will come in September and now Bishop Dassler feels it might come on November 14th... It is difficult because the church is true and this is the Lord's church, but the ship is sailing but I believe that many buckets of water has been scooped out of the boat so that it would keep on sailing... I'm very impressed with Bishop Dassler and the professional way that he has handle it... I'm sure if we were in President Banfield's shoes we would understand why it has taken so long, but I have felt for Bishop Dassler though... McKenna gave a great talk in Primary today and we also had all the family in Lake LA here to celebrate McKenna's 10th birthday.... It is great to be a Grandpa... Night.... 39

Bo is injured...

I believe that Bo's siatic nerve is bothering him... Where is Wade when we need him... I did send him to our chiroprator but he is really limping... I feel for him because he has a really big game against Lancaster tomorrow and I don't see how he will even be able to play let alone play well... I am really tired and I miss my walks when I play golf... The wind is going about 30 mph and I am also doing errands so I haven't played since last Friday... I miss it... I am also enjoying watching the Lakers play in the playoffs against Okalahoma... I really feel bad for this girl that Venna is teaching because she came up to me to tell me that her father comitted suicide... Wow, what a jerk, his daughter is such a special girl... I hope he enjoys the Spirit world because he has no idea what he is heading into by taking his life to get away from this life, now he will really know what suffering is and I hope he saw what I saw in his daughters eyes... I pray that the Saviors atonement will be felt big time in her life... I will be praying for her... Night... 39

I watched Tiger.....

I watched the Masters tonight and even as I wanted to root against Tiger, I am afraid that I was rooting for him and that made me think... I don't watch sports to get a moral lesson, I watch sports to see athletes participate and impress me with their talent.... Tiger is the greatest golfer ever and I enjoy watching him play... I don't like it when athletes use steroids and I can root for them, but then again if my fantasy player uses steroids or my favorite team uses them I am afraid that I still root for them... I go to our living Phophets and Apostles to learn moral lessons... Tiger is an idiot for what he did to his family, but I still caught myself hoping that he would he that unbelievable shot... Sorry, to all those who disagree with me... I also root for Koby Briant and he is an idiot too... I talked to my mom today and she seems to be doing fine.... I love her very much....night.... 39

Ahh, college football is back!

Okay, Sam Bradford was hurt for the 2nd half, but did anyone notice that Oklahoma was not doing much in the 1st half when Bradford was in.... Do you really think that if Bradford was not hurt that he would not be looking for a white shirt on every play after being crushed... Bradford did not get hit like that in his whole college career.... How come no one is mentioning that Harvey Unga was not in the game also.... All he was was a 1000 yard rusher the year before and did you notice that even though he could not play that he was BYU's biggest cheerleader.... Give me a break if both teams traded uniforms everyone would have been saying that they expected Oklahoma to dominate the game and that they are obviously the best team and that the other team was lucky to be so close.... Come on, admit it, BYU actually dominated Okllahoma and Oklahoma is lucky that they had a great defense.... If BYU goes undefeated (and that is a big if) will everyone be talking about THE DRIVE with Max Hall against OK just like they do with John Elway with the Cleveland Browns... It will be talked about by all of the BYU fans..... Tulane is not a good team, but will BYU be caught looking ahead to Florida State.... Uhhh, they better not!..... Boise State kicked Oregon's green but.... I think with Obama around that everything that is labeled green is taking a beating.... Was Ohio State looking ahead to USC, uhhhhh, no, Ohio State just isn't that good.... No Big 10 team in the last 10 years has even been close to USC and Ohio State is going to be beaten down also.... It will still be fun to see.... Barkely is a true freshman at USC?... If they didn't constantly mentinon that you would never have figured that out after the San Jose State game..... San Jose State is not very good but USC did what they were suppose to do and remember Pete Carrill doesn't run up scores like teams from the..... SEC..... Congradulations to LSU actually playing the PAC 10, because they are the only team from the SEC that will play the PAC 10 and they beat a rejuvinated University of Washington team.... That is a top team against the worst team but it's still an SEC vs. PAC 10 battle... I wonder what would happen if USC played Vanderbuilt..... Is Notre Dame back, maybe.... I hope so, because it is no fun to root against a really bad program.... Notre Dame needs to be good so there loses can be extra special... They should join the WAC because they can compete with them after beating Hawaii and Nevada in 2 straight games.... But they would not want to play Boise State would they.... Alabama beat Virginia Tech.... Uh, okay..... Can someone please tell the media that Michael Vick does not play on Virginia Tech.... Why are they constantly overrated?.... I think Alabama is overrated but University of Utah thinks they are really something special.... Georgia loss, no surprise, again the surprise is that another SEC team actually played someone good outside of their conference.... Florida is #1 and USC is #2 anything else is window dressing.... BYU's window looks really nice though..... Night!

I am for free enterprise except in sports

I have no problem with the free enterprise.... I believe that we should let capitalism go as fast and long as it can because we all benefit from that kind of a format.... That is with everything but sports.... I would love if atheletes were put on a salary plan that works for the owner, athletes, but especially for the consumer.... If a great athlete was to make for example $500,000 a year then they would be able to live a comfortable life and the owner could make the profit that they see that they need to make to keep the product on the field and a family could afford to go to the games because the seats would be a lot less expensive.... What a crime that an uneducated gifted athlete is burden with making so much money that they have no concept of responsibility.... You see athletes all the time spending money wrecklessly and for what, self indulgence to the point that there is no control and people's lives are destroyed.... I will grant you that there special skills should allow them to live very comfortably, but what can the typical athlete do with 20 million a year.... I know they say that they can provide for there family properly, but give me a break, their children seem to be bogged down with the molasses of wealth that will never give them any indication to reality.... Now if an athlete invests his money or starts a new business and is making more money that way then I say have at it you have earn everything you have gotten with your risk and work.... But an athlete generally speaking is a person who has never really had to figure life out so why don't we limit there finances to a sum that benefits everyone and yet allows them to be able to still worry about budgeting and making correct choices on how they spend there money..... Bill Gates can make as much money as he can because he has really created jobs, and opportunities galore.... Athletes entertain, owners invest and the public needs it, but should not be metaphorically bleed in it.... My dad took me to 32 Laker games back in 1963 on a barbers's income.... It cost 75 cents for the game and a dollar to park.... Today I am fortunate because I spend most of my time watching ball games on HD TV with my children.... But it just worries me that the NFL owners might possibly make football games paid per viewbecause they are trying to make the proper ammount of profit on their investment.... And yet the owners pay the athletes and the beat goes on.... I want to warn the owners though, I used to be an advid boxing fan.... I use to watch all of the championship fights, but since they have been put on Pay Per View, I have stopped watching and now I really don't care who is doing what in the fight world.... Thank goodness for ESPN Classic channel so I can get my boxing fix by seeing the likes of Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammed Ali, Joe Frasier and others... That's really not so bad....If football doesn't watch itself, I will end up watching Joe Montanna and John Elway again on the classics and I will not know who is playing today.... This fan really can say enough is enough if I get pushed hard enough..... The world is topsy turvey though, because I even live at a time that many people view the Constitution as burden of a document and wants to change it or get rid of it, so I will strap my seat belt and get ready for the ride in the future...... Bye!

Are they really Little Leaguers?

My goodness I watched the Chula Vista team play in the Little League World Series because my mom really gets into it... Is it true that Little Leaguers are taking steroids.... I saw some really big kids and one of them had a shadow on his face and looks like he is ready to jump into big leagues as soon as he is done with the World Series in Williamsport, Penn.... I believe they all got their birth certificates from the same place that President Obama did... I'm not sure but I think we are taking winning way over the top..... Now, everyone is trying to keep up with the old Taiwan teams..... I am taking a trip to Utah in one month and I am hoping that I get to see my Nephews son play football and I keep thinking I am going to see cute little 12 year old bump each other around, but now I am wondering if I am going to see monsters crashing into each other.... And what is with these traveling teams.... Instead of playing with players around the block or town, they now travel out of state to compete with other crazy travel teams and for what!.... I am really thankful that my kids are raised and I beg of them not to tell me who their kids are playing and don't tell me that the kid with a goatee is only 9 years old.... I am very perplexed with the whole mess.... So long!
